1993 saw the anime Ranma 1/2 OAV release based on the manga Ranma 1/2 by Rumiko Takahashi released in 1987. Rumiko Takahashi began working on it after finishing Maison Ikkoku and Urusei Yatsura. Akihisa Matsuura composed music for Ranma 1/2 OAV. Like the manga, the anime is filmed as a action.
